Weak.
This morning, in the NYT:
Harriet E. Miers found him "cool," said he and his wife were "the greatest!" and told him: "You are the best governor ever."
I wonder if it's too late for me to get on the gravy train. I’m an underrepresented minority on the Supreme Court. I went to law school. I’ve practiced at a large firm. I only lack Miers’ long and distinguished paper trail of junior high school fan mail.

You forget that the definition of underrepresented minority precludes you from being an underrepresented minority, at least in most people's minds. It may be factually true for the Supreme Court but when do facts have anything to do with nominations?
You also lack a high-profile position on the lottery commission.
I'm entitled to see an asian justice in my lifetime. There are a handful of 40-ish asians in academia, including Viet Dinh. Dinh is beloved by Federalist Society-types and is vastly more qualified than Miers, and probably even Alberto for that matter. Too bad he didn't make a more concerted effort to elbow his way on to Bush's butt-buddies list when he was with justice. If we're graced with a couple of more Republican administrations, Dinh should make some short lists. But he won't, because he's not the right kind of URM. If being a boat refugee isn't the definition of social disadvantage, I don't know what is.
you are wrong. the definition of URM is the white man who has to settle for colby because his spot at harvard was taken by black people.
